Argentina is an amazing wine growing region, making some world quality wines. Without a doubt, there is one thing that has put Argentina on the map. In fact, if you ask many wine lovers to play the word association game and give them the word Argentina, you can bet that this would be the top of the response list: Malbec.

Malbec is actually a Bordeaux grape, although most people wouldn’t know it. In fact, you can find this grape in many amazing wines from the renowned French region. However, it is always in small percentages, rarely more than 10 or 15 percent. However, as the world of wine grew from beyond Europe, many of its grapes were brought around the world as well. Some of these lesser used French grapes found new homes where they excelled. There was Carmenere in France and, of course, Malbec in Argentina. It has quickly found its way into the spotlight and earning amazing international acclaim.

This wine is a beautiful showcase for the grape. It is estate bottled, meaning that the wine is made on the same winery where the grapes are grown, indicative of an attentive care from grape to glass. The nose has a nice leading fruit nose of plums and blackberries. These fruit flavors are met by tannins as soft as velvet, leading into a round finish that is perfectly satisfying. This is a great steak wine but pairs particularly well with an Argentine steak with a fresh and vibrant chimichurri.
