Alexander the Great is certainly a lofty namesake for a wine, one of history’s most well-known figures. However, this wine is certainly one that lives up to the name. Made in Bulgaria (home of the ancient Greek kingdom of Thrace, one of Alexander’s early conquests), this wine is exploding with flavor and value. The color of this wine is a dense cherry red color, visually striking. The palate is explosively fruit forward, with notes of black currant and red berries, balanced by smooth tannins. This wine would be a great pair with braised short ribs (you may even want to braise the ribs with this wine!).
