THE WINEThis Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful dark ruby, crimson color. It exhibits lovely aromas of black cherry, coffee and molasses. The surge of juicy ripe cherry flavors layered with a touch of tobacco, leads to a pleasant lingering flavor of powdered cocoa and clove . The rich flavor and deep character of this balanced wine displays soft tannins which pair well with a nice prime rib. This Cabernet is very approachable now but can be cellared for many years.

Within the Napa Appellation, there are 17 unique sub-appellations, and at its very heart, you will find Rutherford, home of Grand Napa Vineyards. Flanked by the Mayacamas and Vaca Mountain Ranges, this small, verdant valley with its chalky, dusty soil and the perfect Mediterranean climate produces many of Napa’s most sought-after wines. Extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignons and creamy Chardonnays are born here.

GNV hand-selects this rich and balanced Chardonnay from only the finest grapes.  It begins on the palate with succulent honey-dipped peaches, ripe apricots, lemon curd, and is highlighted with spring floral characteristics.  It has a beautiful richness on the palate with just enough acidity to give it a shimmering mouthfeel.

Chenin Blanc is now South Africa’s signature white grape but it wasn’t always that way. In fact, it wasn’t that long ago that Chenin Blanc was primarily used for low-quality, bulk wine. As the wine industry in South Africa re-emerged onto the world scene, many vineyards were ripping out Chenin Blanc in place of more well-known grapes.

However, Alex Dale, the master winemaker behind the Winery of Good Hope, and several other winemakers saw the potential for the disgraced grape and attempted to make something great out of it. In so doing, they helped forge a new signature grape for South Africa.

This wine is actually made from old bush vines – vines that were prevented from being ripped out and are some of the relatively few remaining old vines containing Chenin Blanc in the country. This stunner is a wonderfully lively, intense, fruity, and beautifully balanced dry Chenin Blanc. Aromas of green apples and white peach invite the juicy, yet taut palate. A depth of fruit is what sets this wine apart. It shows great persistence of flavor and freshness that lingers on the palate long after the wine has gone. Very individual, the character of this wine makes it a perfect companion to warm summer days and long balmy evenings.

Since 1990, Nick Goldschmidt has been walking the hills and valleys of the Alexander Valley. Doing this has given him the ability to discover very unique and exciting vineyards that fit his specific criteria for growing grapes; east-facing slopes for morning sun, old vines for balanced yield, and balanced water availability to produce small fruit that creates big, dark, and black wines.

This special, Reserve Cabernet is a deep garnet, packed with raspberry and ripe black fruit characters expanding into mint and toasty oak aromas. On the palate, you’ll find black cherry and plum layers weaving seamlessly through the red tobacco and earthy overtones. Full-bodied and nicely balanced.

Nick sources his Oakville grapes from family vineyard owners around Opus One. Full-bodied, long finish, and some serious concentration of primary and secondary flavors.

We love red from the Douro Valley for many reasons, and the Quinta da Foz exemplifies why. The composition of all grape varieties indigenous to the Iberian Penninsula (Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca) from the oldest parcel of the vineyards allow it to authentically express its sense of place, while judicious use of oak rounds down the edges, making it approachable and leaving a smooth finish.
