Plaimont Vignobles Marie Maria "Novel" Red Blend 2016
90 Point rating! Roger Voss, global journalist, renowned food and wine connoisseur and author, describes Plaimont Vignobles Marie Maria “Novel” Red Blend as, “Tannat in all its glory is the principal constituent of this wine. Powerful tannins are balanced with opulent black fruits and a fresher touch of acidity. Drink this rich wine from 2022”.
So, what’s “Tannat”? Tannat is a relatively unfamiliar Red wine grape from a small area of Southern France. Tannat has substantially more gusto than a Cab and has the highest antioxidant levels of any wine, with tastes that range from red to black fruit with a decent dose of black licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, espresso, and smoke alongside a signature note of cardamom and brown spices. Be on the look out for more Tannat wines as they seem to be gaining in popularity within the American market.
We recommend pairing with duck, red meats and grilled vegetables.
