Alabar Tinto

Located just a short drive from Lisbon, Tejo is known to the Portuguese as the land of vineyards, olive groves, cork forests, Mertolengo cattle, and the famous Lusitano horses.  Tejo wines are some of the most vibrant and affordable emerging from Portugal today, despite having a history of viticulture there since Roman times.  Alabar (meaning "celebration") red is a stylish blend of the Castelao, Aragones, and Trincadeira varieties, which combine to create an intense garnet colored wine, full of red fruit and a touch of peppery spice; it is well balanced, rich and full-bodied, showing depth and softness of fruit. A versatile and very food friendly wine, but it goes especially well with grilled fish and red meat dishes.
