Les Beaux Galets Red Blend
Les Beaux Galets Red Blend
The Carcassonne region to the east of the Languedoc-Roussillon is a beautiful patchwork of vineyards and medieval architecture and dotted with small wine appellations that are appreciated by French wine "geeks" around the world: Minervois, St. Chinian, Fitou, Cabardes, Corbieres. It is a region of refined red wines at surprisingly low prices relative to their quality and pedigree.
Carignan is a very old variety and one of the true workhorse red grapes of the western Mediterranean. Grenache may be best known for its noble presence in the Rhone wines of France, though it is becoming increasingly popular, and therefore being more commonly planted, worldwide. Cinsault thrives in hot, windy areas and is often used in the famous rose wines of Provence.
