Placer Andaluz Tempranillo/Syrah
This blend is something a little unusual. Tempranillo in Spain is certainly common, in fact, it is the country’s signature grape. However, Syrah is more well known as a French grape, the Rhone in particular. You don’t see a whole lot of Spanish Syrahs. The fact that they are blended together makes the Placer Andaluz Tempranillo-Syrah something intriguing.
We were certainly intrigued when this wine was presented to us for tasting. However, we were blown away when we tasted it. The Tempranillo was youthful and vibrant, packing a punch of flavor, a ton of potential. The Syrah balanced the Tempranillo, adding elegance, structure and a little note of underlying spice. In a word, this wine was graceful, much like the dancer that graces the label. And it was this grace that absolutely surprised us.
The Tempranillo accounts for the primary grape in this blend. It propels this wine to be a nice fruit forward wine with red fruits leading on the palate. The Syrah is there and adds some really nice balance, as well as an underlying note of peppery spice. Together, this blend is incredibly harmonious and something to savor.ABV: 14.1%
