Secret Vines Heritage Red Blend 2017

In the Northeast corner of Minervois, La Livinière is at the foothills of the Black Mountain. The area is extremely dry and sunny, and in the summer, the cool night wind from the mountain raises the grapes acidity, producing a perfect balance. Facing South and planted on a clay and limestone soil, the 40 to 50 years old vines deliver a low yield and a high concentration.

The harvest is fully de-stemmed and each varietal is cold macerated for maximum delivery of aromas. Syrah and Grenache, traditional in the South of France, are blended with Carignan and its powerful but smooth tannins. The resulting blend reflects the unique characteristics of the terroir of La Livinière. The resulting wine is a deep, ruby purple with reflects of garnet. The nose is a full powerhouse of cranberry and blueberry with hints of light pepper and rich mature cigar leaf aromas. The mouth, round and complex, is fruit driven like the nose; its ripe, rich finish screams for more. We recommend pairing with beef tenderloin.
