The Vice "Extra Anejo Batch # 73" Cabernet 2017
The Vice "Extra Anejo Batch # 73" Cabernet 2017
The Vice "Extra Anejo Batch #73" Cabernet 2017 captivates with its second vintage release, maintaining an oak aging experiment now entrenched as a yearly tradition. Inspired by Extra Anejo Tequila, this batch presents a unique opportunity to enjoy a Napa Cabernet aged beyond conventional boundaries. Stemming from a preference for oak-aged tequilas, barrels have been reserved since 2015 to produce this "Extra Anejo" - a Napa Cabernet aged for a minimum of 5 years in oak, akin to the finest tequilas. This balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from St. Helena and Coombsville vineyards reveals aromas of hazelnut, raspberry pie, and sandalwood. On the palate, vibrant fruit flavors like cassis, blueberry, and plum intertwine with hints of truffle, pine, and cigar wrap. Velvety and rich in umami, this wine culminates in a generous finish, offering an extraordinary drinking experience.
Pair it with robust and savory dishes to complement its complexity, such as a succulent grilled ribeye steak or slow-roasted lamb shanks infused with garlic and rosemary. For vegetarians, accompany it with a hearty wild mushroom and truffle risotto. Conclude the meal with a decadent dark chocolate dessert to enhance the wine's velvety texture and lingering finish.
