Villa de Mare Nerello Mascalese 2019

Villa di Mare Nerello Mascalese is a beautiful, richly garnet-hued red wine from Italy. The boldness of this wine is not simply reserved for the color, the palette explodes with intriguing notes of red fruits, including cherries, raspberries and plums. These flavors are perfectly harmonized with the soft tannins for a pleasant crispness and persistent finish. The Nerello Mascalese variety is not well known in the United States due to the fact that it grows primarily on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Despite its rarity, the wine offers amazing value and a taste profile that is often likened to fine Pinot Noir. We recommend pairing with classic Sicilian foods like roasted peppers, eggplant and fish (yes, we totally recommend pairing this red with fish- the balanced tannins pair beautifully with it).
